Hello everyone,

Sorry this is a day late, but massive congratulations to yesterday's Varsity team, (Matt Langton, Angelina Measures, Lauren Hicks and James Dunbar) who took home the Rose Bowl for the first time in far too many years! Woo! Sadly the novice team (Eleonore Cossade, Olaf Davis, Shiqi Liu and Gary Wolfowicz) missed out on the novice plate, but still with impressive scores all round. A huge well done to everyone who shot yesterday!

3. Shooting at Jesus
2. Tournaments

1. Session Times
Sunday: 2pm - 5pm (Rugby Club)
Monday: 2pm-5pm (JCSG)
Tuesday: 7am - 9am (Rugby Club)
Thursday: 4pm - 7pm (Rugby Club)
Friday: 2pm - 5pm (JCSG)

2. Directions to find Jesus
We now have some sessions at the Jesus College Sports Ground from this week onwards, the location of which was adequately described to me last year by Timmins as "walk down Cowley Road till you think you must have gone too far, carry on for about ten minutes and it's on the left". Here are some real directions: Directions to find Jesus . Bus routes 1 and 5 go from the High Street down there pretty frequently, I think it's the Magdalen Road stop you want, near the Regal.

3. Shooting at Jesus
Just a reminder to everyone that when shooting at JCSG, you need to set up ropes (next to the cricket pitch and parallel to the road where you come in) to fence off our shooting area, and put up the warning signs around the main gate entrance on Bartlemas Close. Of course, all of the usual precautions apply; shout 'fast' if anyone comes into the shooting area, and make sure you find all your arrows!

4. Tournaments
Still a couple of tournaments coming up:

19th May (Saturday 4th Week) - County field shoot
As mentioned last week; contact Jack if you're interested.

26th May (Saturday 5th Week) - BUTTS Outdoors
This may be subject to change, but if you're interested in competing, hold the date and tell me you're available. It'll probably be held at Birmingham.

See you around next week!

TT12 1st Week Notices
Saturday, 21 April 2012
Hello there everyone,

I hope you've all had a good Easter break. Welcome back to Oxford, or to term time for those who never left, and to my first of these weekly emails! Just a few things this week:

1. Session Times
2. Outdoor Shooting
3. Moving Equipment
4. Tournaments

1. Session Times
Sunday: 9am - 12pm *(Different to the normal time!)*
Tuesday: 7am - 9am
Thursday: 3pm - 6pm

These are all at the rugby club at the Iffley Road sports centre. Our sessions at Jesus College sports ground will also be starting from 2nd week.

2. Outdoor Shooting
As Matt said in his email last week, don't forget about the safety precautions when shooting outdoors, especially watching for people walking around. There's a footpath that runs behind our targets at the rugby club, so keep an eye on it and shout 'fast' if anyone comes into the shooting area.

Novices, if you need any advice with sights or other things related to the move outdoors, feel free to ask one of the experienced archers and I'm sure they will be able to help. You also have the opportunity to win a pint from me! If all of the first six arrows you shoot at your longest Varsity distance (80 yards for men's, 60 for ladies') hit the target, then I owe you a drink!

3. Moving Equipment
On Friday, Dunbar will be moving bosses and other equipment up to Jesus College for our sessions there and collecting new equipment from Chiltern archery. If you can lend a hand moving stuff to Jesus in the morning, or going to Chiltern in the evening, please get in touch with him.

4. Tournaments
There are a couple of tournaments coming up:

12th May (Saturday 3rd Week) - Varsity match (in Cambridge, preparations are under way!)

19th May (Saturday 4th Week) - County field shoot
If you've never tried field shooting before, this would be worth a go. Instead of shooting at fixed stripy targets, you shoot at lots of different sized targets at unknown distances! If you're interested in giving it a try, talk to Jack who has more details.

Hope to see you at a session soon!
